Team Training Check-In: Week 3

See how Ivanka and the team are doing with our half-marathon training program.

As we’re sure you know by now—seeing as we can’t stop talking about—#TeamIvanka is training for a half-marathon, with the help of Olympian and running coach, John Henwood. Three weeks into his 13-week training program (it’s not too late to join us!), we’ve run together in Central Park, commiserated about our sore legs as we hobble around the office and even achieved some personal running goals. Check in with the team and see shots from our training session in the park with John. #TeamIvanka Half-Marathon Training Check-In: Week 3

How are you feeling about the race? Nervous.
What’s been the biggest challenge so far? Keeping on schedule. I have been doing a lot of traveling and it is harder to maintain a regular training program when I’m on the go. I know—not a good excuse!
What’s been your favorite part of training with John? I am totally confident that his program will enable me to succeed and conquer this challenge. He knows what he’s doing!
What’s the farthest you’ve run since training started? Seven miles.
What’s your favorite running accessory? My husband.

What’s been the biggest challenge so far? Running Cat Hill in Central Park—five times! (Thanks for that, John!)
What’s been your favorite part of training with John? Having a solid plan that feels achievable, although aggressive! Plus, I love the strength training workout.

How are you feeling about the race at this point? Still freaked out.
What's been the biggest challenge so far? The schedule. If I don't do it in the morning, I probably won't get to it at all.
What's been your favorite part of training with John? I like how he integrates other workouts besides running. It keeps things interesting.
What's the farthest distance you've run since training started? Nine miles! Beat you Ivanka!
What's your favorite running accessory? Our concept designer! We live near each other so I run to her apartment and pick her up. I thought it would be hard to run and talk with someone but it is so much easier. She is a great distraction.

How are you feeling about the race at this point? Good! The other day I ran and, for the first time, didn’t hate it. If you know me, you know this is a huge victory.
What's been the biggest challenge so far? See above. Getting to that point, which came only three weeks into trianing.
What's been your favorite part of training with John? He pinpointed exactly what my problems were and told me how to work on them. Basically, his expertise made running so much easier and more fun!
What's the farthest distance you've run since training started? Almost six miles on our run in the park with John.

Director of Marketing and E-Commerce
How are you feeling about the race at this point? Really excited, and even though only a few weeks in, I'm already feeling prepared. I may not be following the training to a T, but I’m definitely getting out there each day that I’m supposed to.
What's been the biggest challenge so far? Time. I typically have to adjust my calendar based on work and other commitments. Fridays are a quieter day for me at work, so even though that’s supposed to be the “off day,” I’ve been making it a running day.
What's been your favorite part of training with John? I’ve trained for races before, but never with professional help. It’s great to have an expert to see if you’re doing something wrong, where you can optimize and how far you can push yourself.
What's the farthest distance you've run since training started? 6.25 miles—getting there!
What's your favorite running accessory? My running belt. It’s perfect for carrying my keys, phone, credit cards and snacks on a long run.
