How to Pack Light Without Sacrificing Style
Hint: Keep it simple.
You've got a big family holiday dinner, drinks with your high school friends and brunch with your mom on the schedule this weekend. Pack for it all and look super-chic—without checking a bag.
Choose pieces that work double-duty
Pack basics that can easily be dressed up or down. A comfortable pair of stretchy black pants and your favorite sweater are cozy for travel or hanging out with family. Swap the sweater for a blouse and add a pair of heels for a nice dinner.
Stick to a palette
Choose primarily neutral pieces, so that you can easily mix and match them with one another, and add colors that are within the same family (for example, pack mostly black and white items and add a few pops of blush).
Pick pre-layered pieces
Go for sweaters with mixed layers and textures (like this one and this one). The built-in layers add interest on their own, so you don’t have to pack additional layering pieces.
Use pouches of all shapes and sizes to stay organized and corral items that would otherwise take up unnecessary free space. We also like to save the dustbags that come with our handbags to organize shoes, laundry and other larger items.
Don’t let wrinkles slow you down
Choose fabrics that are wrinkle-resistant. We love our nylon-blend dresses because the fabric is designed to be (nearly!) impossible to wrinkle. Roll them up in your suitcase and they’ll be ready to go when you unpack. The backup plan? This life-saving little steamer, which takes up almost no room in your suitcase.
