Run a Half-Marathon in 2016
Get the full program from Olympic athlete and one-time #TeamIvanka running coach, John Henwood.
Last year, #TeamIvanka resolved to run a half-marathon in 2015. We kept our resolution, thanks in no small part to John Henwood, the celebrated running coach and (no big deal) Olympic athlete who whipped the team into 13.1-mile-shape. He generously let us share his expertise with our readers. If “run a race” or even just “start a running habit” are on your 2016 resolutions list, we’ve got you covered.
1. Download the plan
John created a comprehensive three-month training plan for us, including strength and stretching routine.
2. Get the gear...
Yes, you can run in the dead of winter (or the height of summer), as long as you have the right clothes.
3. ...and the music
Your playlist can make or break your run—try one of ours.
4. Protect yourself
Read up on injury prevention before you start training.
5. Make it fun
See how we distracted ourselves during our long runs—when we weren’t running together in the park, that is.
6. Fuel up
John shared his race-week nutrition advice to ensure that you feel happy and healthy come race day.
7. Get ready to run
8. Celebrate Your Accomplishment
After we finished the race, we went to our marketing director, Melanie’s, apartment for an after-party with our families and friends.
