The Download on Ivanka's Talk at Ignite Conference
Get the top takeaways from her discussion.
Last week, Ivanka joined NBC Universal’s Ignite Conference, where she spoke to a group of young professionals alongside Squawk Box anchor Becky Quick and Marie Claire’s Lea Goldman. They participated in a dynamic dialogue about ambition, achieving career goals and much more. Ivanka was so grateful for the opportunity to speak about #WomenWhoWork and share our team’s vision in front of such an incredible, engaged audience. If you weren’t in the audience, we’ve got you covered with a few of our favorite takeaways from the talk.
Do the task no one wants to do
A great way to get noticed at work is to take on tasks that no one wants to do—it shouldn’t be something pointless, but something of value that’s tedious or maybe isn’t being owned by anyone already. Take ownership, do it well and it won’t be forgotten.
It’s so important, especially when you’re first starting out. Don’t be afraid that, by asking a question, you might expose yourself as inexperienced or unqualified. No one expects you to know everything.
If a company feels right, play the long game
Loyalty to a company where you’re happy can be incredibly rewarding. That said, it’s up to you to determine whether you are growing and positioning yourself for future success or feeling stuck and undervalued. It’s a fine line.
