The Spill: Interior Designer Jessica Vedel
Ivanka's super-chic interior designer and Entrepreneur in Residence gives us a peek inside her bag.
Jessica Vedel is a talented interior designer (she's currently working on a few amazing projects for Ivanka—more on those later!) and one of our fantastic Entrepreneurs in Residence. Between sharing simple ways to update your apartment and teaching us to set up our home offices, she let us peek inside her trusty Soho Tote. FROM THE IVANKA TRUMP COLLECTION: Soho Tote (more colors coming soon!)
I love the Soho Tote; it fits my MacBook, presentations and samples. I hook the keys to my Brooklyn Heights apartment onto the key latch. I only have a few keys to carry around since moving to New York, which is so nice. (When I lived in London, I also had a bike and a car, and I always carried around a big bunch of keys.) My days are constantly bringing new adventures, and even though I’m generally based out of my office, I often find myself in a cafe between meetings or on a project site waiting for a cab—I like being able to pull out my laptop and get work done. I also carry a flash drive for bringing files and presentations to meetings and a Moleskine and black pen for sketching ideas. I cannot live without my iPhone (with a white cover!), but I actually don’t really use it for all the clever things I know it can do; I use it as a phone, note pad and camera—and for Instagram, of course! I love my Apple headset. It’s great for calling clients, vendors and friends while I’m running around town for meetings or stuck in cabs between site visits. My By Malene Birger wallet is great—it’s big enough for receipts, business cards, my MetroCard and everything in between. I carry a few beauty essentials with me—the sun cream and lip balm from Rudolph Care, and BareMinerals foundation and brush. I’ve also always got hand sanitizer (I go into dusty, dirty building sites all the time) and a Green & Black chocolate bar, since I snack on an hourly basis.
