A 10-Minute Energy-Boosting Exercise

From Morgan: Hitting the 3pm afternoon slump happens to the best of us, regardless of any amount of caffeine we consumed prior. Thankfully, we can kick up our energy in a natural way—by releasing endorphins throughout our bodies. Check out this 10-minute workout that incorporates burst training, which is designed to burn 9x the calories as traditional cardio workouts.

Burst Style Workout 

20 seconds on, 20 seconds rest - 3 total rounds

1. Rapid Fire Punches

Standing with feet shoulder-width apart, slightly bend your knees with your chest up and shoulders back. Take your right arm in a punching position and drive it across your body to the left. Repeat on the left side.

2. Pick Ups

Starting with your feet together, jump out into a squat position with your chest up and touch your hand to the ground. Once you have touched the ground, jump back up to feet together.

3. Star Jumps

Start with your feet together and knees slightly bent in a crouching position. Explode up into a jump with your feet and arms out, forming a “star”. Be sure to land softly back into your starting position. 

4. Heismans

Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart and your knees slightly bent. Jump onto your right foot and pull your left knee up and toward your right shoulder. Jump onto your left foot and pull your right knee up and toward your left shoulder. Keep jumping between feet until set is complete.

5. Power Lunges

Starting with your feet together, step your left leg back to form a 90-degree angle with your right leg. Land softly and repeat on opposite side.
