A Simplified Deskside Beauty Routine
Makeup expert Nikol Johnson Sanchez, our newest Entrepreneur in Residence, focuses on just what’s necessary.
From Nikol: Working women always need a deskside beauty routine for times when there’s an unexpected meeting with a boss or a last-minute dinner with a client. Here are four simple beauty steps to keep you looking your best with minimal effort.
Refresh your tresses
Not everyone can fit in a glamorous, relaxing blowout in an already packed workweek. To keep your hair looking fresh in between washes, stash a bottle of Drybar’s Detox Dry Shampoo in your desk. Not only will it soak up all the oils on your scalp and give you a revived look, it will also dust your hair with a fresh scent.
Wake up tired skin
Everything from the weather outside to heat and air conditioning indoors can negatively impact skin. Revive it with a cooling facial mist. They’re one of my favorite beauty tricks: I use them when I need to cool down after a sweaty, calorie-burning spin class or while I’m sitting at my desk in need of a little skin hydration (and wake-up call for that 4pm meeting!). You’ll get a beautiful glow and an instant mood boost—both very necessary on those past-your-deadline kind of days.
Color the cheeks
You may be exhausted, but you don’t want to look exhausted. Pep up your face with a cream blush. This simple yet powerful product will take you from looking dull to healthy with just one swipe. You don’t need brushes or any fancy tools; only your fingers. Apply to the apples of your cheeks and blend.
Plump up lips
Never leave home without your lip gloss. While keeping your lips from getting dry and chapped, it also gives your face some color with little effort. However, not all lip glosses are created equal—I love one that not only hydrates and softens the lips but also plumps them. Instead of stinging and burning your pout, Grande Cosmetics uses techy ingredients like Volulip and hyaluronic acid to plump without irritation. My go-to colors are Sunbaked Sedona and Cashmere Buff.
